Aft Cabin heading to Queensland for Group 1 mission

Aft Cabin wins the Arrowfield Sprint.

Gun Godolphin colt Aft Cabin is bound for a Group 1 Queensland mission in a marquee bonanza for the winter carnival.

The Blue Army had been considering deploying the exciting three-year-old to Royal Ascot where he would have been a travelling companion to superstar Anamoe.

But with Anamoe now being retired, News Corp can reveal that the decision has been made to send Aft Cabin north where he will contest the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 on May 13.

It sets up a tantalising clash with The Everest star Giga Kick who is the $2 favourite with Aft Cabin firming from $8 into $6 on the second line of betting since the news was announced.

There is also the potential for James Cummings-trained Aft Cabin to progress to the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap where he is currently an $11 chance.

Godolphin has form winning the Stradbroke with a three-year-old, with Impending scoring Queensland's most prestigious race in 2017.

"Aft Cabin will come to Brisbane and race in the Doomben 10,000," Godolphin's Australian boss Vin Cox told News Corp.

"After that we will consider our options with him, but a race like the Stradbroke could come on the radar. Thought was given to taking him to Royal Ascot but he will be coming up to Queensland."

Aft Cabin has already won over $1m in prizemoney and was last seen scoring a dominant win in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint at Randwick earlier this month.

He is one of Australia's most exciting and promising up-and-comers.
