Ahead of mobile sports betting launch, Mass. Gaming Commission to discuss last-minute regulations

BOSTON — Just two days ahead of the launch of mobile sports betting in Massachusetts, the state’s gaming commission is set to meet to discuss some last-minute regulations, including who could potentially be banned from participating in sports betting.

On Wednesday, the commission will discuss involuntary exclusion from sports wagering. Among those who may be excluded from sports betting are known cheaters and convicted criminals.

Once sports betting goes live, people will be able to bet on everything from games and championships, to eating competitions and awards shows like the Oscars and Golden Globes.

The gaming commission will be discussing restrictions for these on Wednesday, as they work to make sure people who take advantage of these promotions know exactly what they’re signing up for.

The commission could also vote to accept mobile betting platforms’ house rules.

Wednesday’s Massachusetts Gaming Commission meeting is virtual and open to the public. It’s scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
