Akuta sensational in Hannon Memorial

Akuta is the reigning New Zealand two-year-old of the year. He won the Hannon Memorial on Sunday afternoon (Sep. 18) in Oamaru. Alta Wiseguy and Tim Williams came within a half head of Akuta. Pembrook Playboy and Nathan Williamson came third.

Akuta won the Hannon Memorial. Mark Purdon is unsure if he will be aimed at the New Zealand Cup. Alta Wiseguy did his reputation no harm stepping brilliantly. Ala Wise Guy is a favourite for the race. Muscle Mountain is also a contender. Ian Dobson won a share of the Cup with Christian Cullen and Mainland Banner. He is the owner of Muscle Mountains. The two horses will line up in the NZ Trotting FFA on the same day. It is possible that they could be the main contenders. They will go head-to-head. If so, they will have to earn their place in our greatest race, the HRNZ road to the cup.
