Ally McCoist spotted pouring pints at Cheltenham Festival as punter says Rangers legend 'couldn't have done much worse'

YOU never quite know where Rangers legend Ally McCoist might show up next given his vast array of media commitments.

This week, you'll find him at Cheltenham as he enjoys the takes in the horse racing extravaganza.

McCoist is there as part of the talkSPORT team, with the breakfast show airing live from the famous racecourse every morning.

As well as a change of location, it's a change of co-host this week for McCoist, with old pal Alan Brazil in the hotseat instead of Laura Woods for the festival.

Having got their Tuesday morning show out of the way, it was off for a wander to enjoy some of what the opening day of the big event has to offer.

The first port of call was the beer tent, where Brazil was given the chance to pour the very first pint of Guinness at Cheltenham 2023.

McCoist was keeping a close eye, as he took this exact challenge the previous year, passing with flying colours!

With Coisty looking on, Brazil poured the first pint of the Irish favourite of the day.

As he poured it, he said: "I think the key is, just let it settle a wee bit."

Co-host Sam Ellard then jumped in saying: "I've got to say, there's a lot of head on that Al."

Brazil says: "Calm down! Calm down, tiger!"

Sam then jokes: "Ally did this last year and he absolutely nailed it," to which Brazil says: "Shut up!"

Brazil then places the pint - which for a Guinness, is looking rather full-up for its first pour - onto the table as McCoist is brought in for his 'expert' opinion.

Smirking to the camera, the former Scotland striker quips: "I think there's a bit of work needing done there, Al.

"I'll have a go at it!"

Keen to replicate his success of last year, McCoist begins pouring as he explains his technique.

He tells Sam: "I'll tell you the technique, the technique is you go up three quarters. I did it last year, and then..."

McCoist then stops in his tracks and realises he's made a rather large error!

The Guinness he's pouring just simply is NOT Guinness - and he's actually pouring from the tap next to it, containing Czech lager Pravha.

Realising his error he says: "This isn't Guinness."

Brazil, loving it, jumps in with it: "It's lager, you numpty!"

McCoist promises the pint won't go to waste, and begins to take a sip from his beer.

Brazil then takes a drink from his Guinness and insists it's "as good as ever!"

Fans were loving the clip, with one amused punter saying: "Only Ally would do that!"

The talkSPORT Twitter account laid into Coisty's efforts, saying: "McCoist couldn't have done much worse."

Brazil didn't get off without some constructive criticism either, with another fan saying: "The head on that pint of Guinness is awful."
