Already a favorite for Breeders' Cup Classic
Essential Quality is the favorite for the $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic. Brad Cox's horse won the Belmont Stakes. Essential Quality has won three Grade 1 races for Cox. The horse is 5-1 to win the Classic at one foreign bookmaker. Other favorites are Knicks Go (8-2), the Pegasus World Cup winner, and Mandaloun (12-5). The winner of the Breeder's Cup is expected to be determined at Del Mar. Authentic, American Pharoah and Arrogate won BreedERS' Cups in consecutive years from 2014-16.
Silver State is a favorite for Breeders' Cup Classic. Rombauer is getting a two-month freshening. Express Train won Saturday's Grade 2 San Diego Handicap. Jackie's Warrior is 5-for-6 at one turn but winless in two tries around two turns. Midnight Bourbon is troubled, but still a worthy competitor. Dr Post has a pair of Grade 3 wins on either side of a troubled Met Mile defeat. Jesus’ Team came second in Pegasus and finished third in the Indiana Derby. Owendale has won only 1 of 11 races since he was a 3-year-old. Essential Quality looks good.
