Anamoe vs Dubai Honour in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes

It’s Anamoe who’s at $2.50 with Betr for the $5m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick, and he’ll again be ridden by the Longines World’s Best Jockey in James McDonald.

With Anamoe being on 59kg, he’ll jump from Gate 8 of 13 runners for trainer James Cummings and Godolphin, having last scored a half-length victory over Fangirl in the George Ryder Stakes.

In a truly international field, it’s the William Haggas trained Dubai Honour who was a 4½ length winner of the Ranvet Stakes for Ryan Moore, the 2014, 2016, 2021 Longines World’s Best Jockey.

Now with Newmarket based jockey ‘Aussie Tom’ Marquand returning from injury, Dubai Honour will start from Gate 9, also carrying 59kg, and is currently $2.45 race favourite over Anamoe.

However, there’s no looking past the Japanese as their $20m Saudi Cup winning trainer Yoshito Yahagi has Unicorn Lion at $11, having won the Fukushima Kinen in a speedy 2:00.2 for 2000m.

As Anamoe is currently equal sixth on the 2023 Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings, it’s the 2017 Longines World’s Best Jockey Hugh Bowman who’s on El Patroness at odds of $51.

And with this Longines Queen Elizabeth being international, Anamoe is sired by the Darley Kelvinside based Street Boss, having been a former shuttle sire for Godolphin in Britain and America.

The Irish bred Dubai Harbour is by the then Coolmore Australia sire Pride of Dubai who shuttled to Coolmore in Ireland, while the Irish bred Japanese runner Unicorn Lion is by No Nay Never.

With the top international No Nay Never being shuttled between Coolmore Ireland and Australia, it’s his half-brother The Wow Signal who’s by Australia-Ireland shuttle sire Starspangledbanner.

As Royal Randwick is not the only home of Longines, it was ‘that man’ Ryan Moore who scored a well-judged 1¼ length victory in the $5m Longines Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.

With the Longines Golden Slipper being ‘the World’s Richest 2YO Race,’ the Longines Golden Slipper $1m Bonus was not claimed by Shinzo with only one Pathway success, the Pago Pago Stakes.

Off the track, it was Zara Castellaz-Faico who was judged the Best Dressed Female for the Longines Prize of Elegance in the Sydney Confidential Fashions, with Domingo Martinez the Best Male.

The Sydney Confidential Fashion Stakes returns this ‘Longines Saturday,’ with the Longines Prize of Elegance again for the Best Dressed Female and Best Dressed Male, plus the Showstopper.

With Longines being the Official Timekeeper and Watch Partner of the ATC, they both know it’s Brand Alignment, Global Exposure, Engaging Audience, Relationships and Engaging Sydney Spirit.

In fact, with Longines excelling internationally and being the Club’s principal Foundation Partner, the Sydney Autumn Carnival with its $41m in prizemoney continues to attract the world’s best.

Now with prizemoney for the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes totalling $5million, and run over 2000m at weight-for-age, it’s of course star of the $12m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day.

In Schweppes being a ATC Gold Partner of some 30-years, it’s Irishman Joseph O’Brien with his Chester Cup winner Cleveland that’s the $4 favourite for the $2m Schweppes Sydney Cup of 3200m.

To be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy from Barrier 17 of 20 runners on 51kg, its Tom Marquand on O’Brien’s second runner Baron Samedi with 55kg at $16, and King Frankel being quoted at $8 on 50kg.

The Melbourne Cup winner Gold Tip is at $8 for James Mc Donald, while Knight’s Order is looking for back-to-back Sydney Cup wins at $17 and 2021 Australian Derby hero Explosive Jack at $26.

Training pair Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott head the $1m Sydney Queen of The Turf Stakes of 1600m with their $10m Tattersalls buy Alcohol Free being $3.10 fav for James Mc Donald.

At $6 is Sirileo Miss having won the Sunline Stakes, $7.50 for the George Ryder Stakes winner Levante, while Joseph O’Brien has Statement at $31, and William Haggas with Purplepay now at $41.
