Point Spread Pick

The Army Black Knights take on the Air Force Falcons in the second game in the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy. Air Force has dominated the competition winning 21 times since the trophy was established in 1972 compared to Navy’s 16 wins and Army’s 9. The Falcons are 8-0 this year and are not only the favorites to win the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy but also the favorites to win the Mountain West Conference. Army is 2-6 this year and their chances of making a bowl game are dwindling fast. They would have to win all 4 of their remaining games, including this one, to make a bowl game.

Air Force is not a gimmick, they are just a good football team. Offensively they have most of their success throwing the ball averaging 381.3 yards per game, 300 of which are through the air. Their quarterback, Zac Larrier, has a 70% completion percentage with 651 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. Although their rushing attack does not produce a ton of yardage, it is still an important part of their game considering they have 27 rushing touchdowns this year. Defensively they allow on average 237.9 yards per game, 3rd best in the country, and 13.4 points per game, 4th in the country. This Air Force defense is going to really shut down an Army offense that only averages 21 points per game. This is a neutral site game at Mile High Stadium in Denver but I am not sure that will matter. Air Force is statistically the better team and is 4-1-1 against the spread this year, whereas the Black Knights are 0-4-1 against the spread. Air Force wants to win the trophy and put it on their rival. Take the Falcons to not only win but cover the spread.

Air Force -18.5 is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
