NCAAF Week 10 Betting Odds, Spreads & Picks 2023

Neither Wyoming nor Colorado Stats has performed consistently well this season but the Cowboys have seen much better results at home compared to the road. Our betting picks like their chances at sending Colorado State packing with another loss.

Friday Night Lights heads out west tonight, as the 3-5 Colorado State Rams make the trek to Laramie to take on the 5-3 Wyoming Cowboys.

The Rams have dropped three of four and just got smoked by Air Force last week. The Cowboys have lost consecutive games and most recently were the recipient of a Boise State beatdown.

Which Mountain West squad will bounce back from its recent struggles and cover in the college football odds this week?

Here are our free college football picks and predictions for Colorado State vs. Wyoming on November 3.

Colorado State vs Wyoming best odds

Colorado State vs Wyoming picks and predictions

Last season, the Wyoming Cowboys went on the road and beat the Colorado State Rams 14-13 in a certified rock fight. Wyoming had a slightly better defense last year, but its offense was also not as good as the current squad. Also, the Rams offense was dreadful last year but is much improved in 2023.

The Cowboys are basically two different teams this year depending on where they play. In three road games, Wyoming is 0-3 with an average score of 32.3-14.7. In its five home games, it's 5-0 with an average score of 29.4-22.8. That is almost 15 points better per game on offense and almost 10 better on defense when at home.

The Rams have struggled on the road this season as well. They are 1-2 with an average score of 30.3-29.7 against them. One of the major reasons for their struggles is their inability to stop opposing offenses in crucial situations.

Colorado State has allowed opponents to convert 46.4% of their third downs, which ranks 118th nationally. It also struggles when opponents get into the red zone. The Rams have allowed 20 touchdowns and 10 field goals on 33 attempts (113th). Meanwhile, Wyoming has one of the better red-zone offenses in the country.

The Cowboys have scored 16 touchdowns and six field goals in 23 red-zone attempts, which ranks seventh in the country. The Rams allow 171.5 rushing yards per game (103rd) and the Cowboys average 147.2 rushing yards (75th). Wyoming will be able to find its way to the red zone and use its rushing game to finish off drives with touchdowns.

If this game was at Colorado State, I would be a little more wary of this game. However, the Cowboys will be able to take advantage of their rushing game and red-zone opportunities to put up enough points to cover this slightly inflated spread while playing in front of the home crowd.

My best bet: Wyoming -7 (-102 FanDuel)

Colorado State vs Wyoming same-game parlay

Wyoming -7.5

Wyoming team total Over 27.5

There is not a bounty of riches available for a great same-game parlay for this contest, so we will keep it basic by combining the spread with Wyoming's team total.

Wyoming averages 29.4 points per game when playing at home while Colorado State allows 30.3 points per game on the road. Here, we can combine the spread with Wyoming Over 27.5 points at a decent price.

Special teams has also been an issue for Colorado State, as it has allowed two blocked kicks this season. The Cowboys have blocked three kicks themselves this year and that could help lead them to an extra score outside of their offense if they are able to get another. While you can't count on a blocked kick, it's a testament to how well-prepared Wyoming's special teams squad has been by comparison and that edge is not lost on me.

Colorado State vs Wyoming spread and Over/Under analysis

Turnovers have been a major issue for the Rams this season, losing five fumbles and throwing 13 interceptions. Eleven of those interceptions have been thrown by starting quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. He may be without his favorite target, Tory Horton, in this game, making things even more dangerous for Colorado State.

The total is extremely low due to the nature of some Wyoming games and its game with Colorado State last season. However, only two Cowboys games would have gone Under this total this season and both were blowout losses on the road. Meanwhile, no Colorado State game in 2023 would have gone Under this total.

While Wyoming’s strength is its defense, it still has some issues on that end. It ranks 127th in third-down percentage defense (49.6%) and has allowed 10/12 fourth-down conversions. That struggle to get off the field will give the Rams offense a chance to help hit this Over even with a loss.
