Around the Grounds: Wallaby-laden University upset in thriller

The University upset the Wallabies in a thriller. Super Rugby stars returned to Shute Shield in preparation for the run home.

Northern Suburbs beat Manly 38-28 in the Round 12 Shute Shield match. Southern Districts beat Eastwood 43-18. Warringah beat Penrith 12-12. Sydney Uni lost to West Harbour 31-40. Randwick and the Rats face-off this weekend for outright second spot on the competition ladder. Theo Strang returned from Australian U20s duties to start at halfback and he was replaced by Wallaby squad member Jake Gordon. Parramatta beat Gordon 40-30.

The Presidents XV took on the Country Heelers yesterday instead of the Wallabies. The former won 57-27.

Darcy Swain, Andrew Robinson and Nick Jooste helped Tuggeranong to victory. Nick Josten started at fullback for Wests.

Harry Scoble started at hooker in UWA's win over Joondalup. Palmyra and Associates won in the West.

Associates beat Nedlands 38-12. Cottesloe beat Wests Scarborough 28-28. Kalamunda beat Perth Bayswater 19-19.
