Arsenal vs Sevilla prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for Champions League group stage match

Arsenal's forward line is beset by injuries as they look to remain top of their Champions League group when they host Sevilla in north London on Wednesday.

The absences of Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus loomed very large as Arsenal were beaten by Newcastle in a physical affair over the weekend. Those two have still yet to train, and now Eddie Nketiah has picked up a knock and could miss this encounter as well.

Arsenal sit top of Group B with six points from the first three matches, but Lens lurk just a point back, and third-placed Sevilla could get right back into the mix with an upset victory here.

Sevilla are in a relegation scrap once again in the Spanish top flight, sitting 15th in the table – only four points above the drop – but their European wizardry has been well-documented over the last decade. The Rojiblancos have been a tough out regardless of their domestic standing, and they troubled the Gunners in the reverse fixture two weeks ago, threatening to stage a two-goal comeback but falling just short in a 2-1 Arsenal victory. Arsenal vs Sevilla: best bet

  • Pick: Sevilla +1.5 goal handicap
  • Odds: -110 (DraftKings)

Sevilla were up to snuff last time these two teams met just two weeks ago, nearly completing a second-half comeback as they poured on the pressure in the final 20 minutes. After Gabriel Jesus put Arsenal 2-0 up in the 53rd minute, the Gunners were out-shot by Sevilla 7-3 and failed to put a single effort on target.

Now, as Arsenal struggle with injuries, it's possible that these two teams could battle hard once again. The loss of Sergio Ramos is a big one for the visitors, as they lose a leader who was immense in the first leg.

But Arsenal's defeat to Newcastle proved that the loss of Odegaard up front makes the Gunners very reliant on Bukayo Saka, and if he can be overwhelmed, there's not much else the Gunners can do.

Whether this match is low-scoring or a barnburner, there's reason to believe Sevilla can keep it from becoming lopsided.

Arsenal vs Sevilla prop bet

  • Pick: Half with most goals — 2H
  • Odds: -105 (DraftKings)

Both of these teams have reason to go for victory, and in games where each side needs three points to walk away satisfied, the second half can become an end-to-end affair.

Additionally, these two sides are both heavily skewed towards an open second half. Arsenal's offensive output increases significantly after the break, bagging just six goals (10th in Premier League) on 7.23 xG before halftime while pummeling opponents for 16 goals (T-2nd in Premier League) on 11.27 xG across the final 45 minutes.

Sevilla are similar in style, with their seven first-half goals in La Liga play amongst the middle of the pack but scoring 10 after the break.

Both teams also, oddly, sport negative xG/xGOT differentials in the first half before finishing at a far more efficient clip after the break — especially Sevilla, who incredibly have put up 10.26 second-half xGOT on just 6.03 xG worth of chances. Watch both teams look to reach halftime with the scoreline intact before going for it as the game drags on.

Arsenal vs Sevilla prop bet

  • Pick: Gabriel Martinelli to score or assist a goal
  • Odds: -115 (FanDuel)

With Odegaard out and Saka marked out of things, Gabriel Martinelli was the key man for Arsenal against Newcastle over the weekend. It didn't quite work out, but he was close to lifting Arsenal onto the scoresheet on a number of occasions.

Martinelli finished the match with five chances created, while nobody else on Arsenal had a single one. The Brazilian also ripped off three shots, putting one on target and forcing a save. He had acres of space in behind Kieran Trippier who was encouraged to get forward in the Newcastle attack.

Against Sevilla two weeks ago, Martinelli put up a Man of the Match performance, putting both his shots on target and bagging a goal, while also creating four chances for teammates. He should have another chance to shine here against a soft Sevilla back line.
