Arsenal’s World Cup ‘22 Stars

The World Cup in Qatar has been a low-profile event so far. It's the first one that's been held in the run-up to Christmas. The tournament has attracted many football fans, especially in UK. There are many young stars from around the world, including Gavi, Aurelien Tchouameni and Lionel Messi. For domestic teams, it's also providing the perfect showcase to help them spot who they might want to snap up in January transfer window.

Arsenal have had a great start to the season with 12 wins from 14 matches. Ten players from the team have been picked to represent their countries in Qatar. Goalkeepers Matt Turner and Ramsdale for England and Matt Turner for USA are in the squad. Defenders Takehiro Tomiyasu for Japan, William Saliba for France and Ben White for English are also in. Forwards Brazil's Gabriels, Martinelli and Jesus and England's Bukayo Saka are playing for their respective countries.

The World Cup is in its group stage. Brazil are favourites to win the tournament. Next up are France and Spain. The tournament could be heading to South America or continental Europe.

There are concerns about the England team's chances in this summer's Euros. There are also concerns that players could be injured or come back from Qatar on crutches. The footballing calendar is always busy and having to play extra matches in Qatar’s searing heat is bound to leave players even more depleted. Mikel Arteta might have to face this problem when he resumes the race for the Premiership title after Christmas.
