Ascot raceday preview: Who will take the Gold Cup?
Carnival time out West comes to a close with day five of The Pinnacles. The Gold Rush is the inaugural running of the 1.5 million dollar Group 3 weight for age feature. Stayers have put together a handy bunch for the running the G.A. Towton Cup.
BEADS won his first race first up. GEMMAILA'S SON is a contender. ACROMANTULA is the first Saturday metro ride for apprentice Luke Campbell. River Beau is another speedster. Jesse’s tip: Beads win $2.50.
Jamie Kah retakes the ride for the 3 year old plate 1000m race. Jamie Kah travelled to Australia to ride. Brad Parnham should be able to get the filly into a winnable spot. GALAXY AFFAIR got the job done at Geraldton last start. He will need a peach from Ben Melham to win here. YARRALEA will appreciate the drop back in class. Jesse’s tip: Aiyza win $2.50.
Samaria is going to race for the first time in Westspeed company. She's been beaten in easier races her last two starts. Her main rivals are conceding upwards of 3kg in the run. Dance Cockey ran the race of his life last start at triple figure odds.
Special View should win restricted races back to back. He was beaten less than two lengths last start by Megazone and Crescent City. The start prior he was 2.5 lengths off Alsephina and Trade War. Keytrade is going up in weight slightly. Mosquito should be able to make a big run. VITALIZE has been stringing wins together in easier company. Jesse’s tip: Special View win $5.00.
Swim Through showed more than enough in a 64+ last start to warrant supporting here. CASH AWAY will probably storm home 4 lengths clear. Capital Flight was scintillating throughout the Belmont winter. DISCO DONUT hasn't been seeing out the six furlong trips he's been running over.
BRAGWELL returns off a Mount Barker trial. REAL GRACE is not worth buying. MY MARIANA won at Northam first time. HARDLY EVER was well backed first up and was good behind Bitofmerit and Swim Through. Jesse’s tip: Bragwell each way $11.00/3.25. Jesse's tip for the Gold Cup:
Jesse’s tip: Above the Peg win $5.00. in RTG 72+ 1600m. ABOVE THE PEG didn't win last start, but he was beaten by a horse that ran midfield in the Northerly last week. Althephina posted some win in 66+ company last time. MEGAZONE keeps turning up and winning. Casino Seventeen was unlucky laststart.
Neufbosc is a former winner of the Perth Cup. Alaskan God and Pure Devotion are taking up nearly 70% of market percentage. Jesse's tip: Neuf bosc win $6.00. The return of Trap for Fool's on Saturday is worth mentioning. It's worth looking for a nice price. The winner will be decided on the race distance. There are two races on Sunday. They are the Listed G.A. Towton Cup 2200m and the G2A Towtons Cup 1,600m.
The current favourite Vilana is injured and there are doubts over his fitness. VILANA is the opening market elect. KEMENTARI is a model of consistency and gets the services of Jamie Kah. Red Can Man and Resortman are two horses that have been completely missed by the market. Elite Street is probably our best local horse heading into the spring. The race is at 1400m. The winner will be announced at 6pm on Saturday. It's a Group 3 Gold Rush 1400 m. Race 9 is also at 1200m and is on a different day. There are some horses at a big price. They are Red CAN MAN and Resortman.
BILLY AIN’T SILLy is back and he's always shown plenty of ability. He's going to be able to sit handy from the inside barrier. PANZDOWN is not for me.
Brad Parnham has a great book of rides across the meeting. Flying Missile is enigmatic but finally gets the 1400m she needs to be effective. Big Screener will be cursing the barrier gods. Chris Pernham will have to deal with a lot of stoppers. Jesse's tip: Billy Ain't Silly win $7.50.
