Aston Villa v Brighton preview

Aston Villa will head into Saturday lunchtime's match in confident mood following their 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Victory in the capital last weekend has pushed Unai Emery's side up to sixth in the table ahead of this weekend's match, having won four of their last five matches in the league.

The Villans' 3-1 home win over Bournemouth a fortnight ago was the club's 10th consecutive home win in all competitions, and Emery's side will be looking to maintain that home record against a high flying Brighton side on Saturday.

The Seagulls, like Villa, have picked up where they left off last season, where they broke their club record for their highest ever league finish, with their first ever top six finish also qualifying them for European competition for the first time in the club's history.

Roberto de Zerbi's side have won five out of their six league games this season which has taken them up to third in the Premier League table heading into this weekend.

The Sussex side have won both of their away games in the league this season, one at Old Trafford and one at Molineux in the West Midlands, where they will be playing again on Saturday.

The Seagulls are the Premier League's top scoring team so far this season, averaging three goals per game so far, though Aston Villa have scored seven across their two home games in the league so far too.

Villa also have the added confidence of the knowledge that they've beaten Brighton in all of their last four matches, losing only one of their last 16 matches against the Seagulls dating back to 1980.

Aston Villa v Brighton betting tips

Goals can be expected on Saturday with two of the top goal scoring sides in the division going head to head, and Paddy Power are offering 5/1 odds for each team's top scorer this season, Ollie Watkins and Evan Ferguson, both to find the back of the net.

A tightly-fought game is also likely to happen, with a potential draw on the cards despite neither team being involved in a stalemate in the league this season, with a 1-1 draw priced at 7/1 while 2-2 is priced at 17/2.
