Astros Might Be In Trouble After Jose Altuve Falls To Long-Term Injury

The World Baseball Classic has been electric throughout. However, there have been some major injuries to some of the MLB’s biggest stars.

Edwin Diaz already fell to a season-ending injury. Now, it appears the Houston Astros could be without Jose Altuve in the beginning portion of the 2023 season.

The team announced that Altuve will be out for at least two months after he was hit by a pitch that fractured his thumb.

This is a less-than-ideal situation for Houston, as they’ll be without their superstar second baseman for a good chunk of the season. Luckily though, Altuve is in line to return by mid-June.

For that reason, the injury isn’t that big of a problem for the Astros. They have a solid roster and should remain competitive with or without Altuve.

Additionally, Covers shares that Jose Altuve’s injury isn’t affecting the Astros’ World Series hopes, as they remain the betting favorite to win.

Regardless, this isn’t how Houston wanted to begin its season. With that said, it’ll be interesting to see how the AL West race plays out with Jose Altuve sidelined.

At the end of the day, the Astros are likely going to be fine. Especially considering how long the MLB season is. Look for Houston to monitor their star second baseman and ease him back into the lineup around June.
