Athletics vs. Mariners prediction and odds for Monday (Fade the A's)

The Oakland Athletics have been a disgrace to Major League Baseball this season, sitting at 10-38 ahead of their four-game series with the Seattle Mariners, who have also been disappointing so far in 2023.

A season removed from an ALDS appearance, the Mariners are in fourth place in the AL West with a 22-24 record.

Luckily for them, a four game set against the A’s is a perfect time to gain some momentum.

Let’s dive into the odds and my best bet for Monday night’s Game 1.

Athletics vs. Mariners odds, run line, and total

Athletics vs. Mariners prediction and pick

If you’re looking for a case that supports a bet on the Athletics, you’ve come to the wrong place. There’s no way I can justify a bet on the Athletics with Kyle Muller on the mound.

Muller has a disgusting 7.71 ERA on the season, along with a 1.952 WHIP. This isn’t just a poor start for Muller. He had an 8.03 ERA last season as well.

Now, he has to take on the Mariners ace, Luis Castillo, who has a strong 3.31 ERA through his first nine starts.

Even if Muller survives his start, the Athletics will have to turn to their MLB worst bullpen. The A’s bullpen has an ERA of 6.49, which is the worst mark in the Majors by 1.08. That level of pitching is stunning, even for a team as disastrous as the Athletics.

I see no reason why the Mariners shouldn’t win this game with ease, so I’ll back their run line and hope they win by at least two runs.
