The club played two previous friendlies in July and split matches against Manchester City (2-1 win) and the K-League All-Stars (3-2 loss).

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad caught a break after its previous loss to Atletico Madrid to finish fourth in the league standings in 2022-’23. The team ranked among LaLiga’s best in terms of goals allowed (35) and shots on target (179) for the league season and also committed more fouls than any other team in LaLiga. Real Sociedad is playing its second club friendly of the summer after losing to Sporting CP (3-0) last month.

For comparison’s sake, Atletico Madrid has the third-best odds (+850) to win LaLiga while Real Sociedad is fifth-best at +4400. Real Madrid (+100) and Barcelona (+135) are hefty favorites to finish 1-2, in some order, in the league standings.
