Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has told HBO Sports his arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated nearly a decade ago occurred because of police prejudice against “a rich, white billionaire.” The comments were aired Tuesday. Carmel police stopped Irsay for driving erratically in 2014. In the car they found prescription drugs and more than $29,000 in cash. A toxicology report showed Irsay had oxycodone, hydrocodone and a drug used to treat anxiety in his system. In September 2014, Irsay pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count. He said in the interview he pleaded guilty to “get it over with.”

For Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears, Monday night’s game at Minnesota will be all about second chances. Fields gets another opportunity against a Vikings defense that knocked him out of the teams’ last matchup with a dislocated right thumb. And the Bears get a chance to prove they can close out games better than they did at Detroit on Sunday. The Lions scored 17 points over the last four minutes to win 31-26, spoiling an otherwise encouraging return by Fields, who had missed four games with the thumb injury. Fields has struggled in the closing minutes of games throughout his three seasons.

Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby didn’t practice Wednesday because of a knee injury. That puts his status in question for when Las Vegas hosts AFC West rival Kansas City on Sunday. Crosby typically has been listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesdays. He hasn’t missed a game this season. Not having one of the NFL’s top pass rushers would be a significant blow against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ sixth-ranked passing offense. Crosby is tied for fifth with 10 1/2 sacks.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will miss Wednesday’s game in Minnesota with hip soreness and will be re-evaluated Thursday, Philadelphia coach Nick Nurse says. Embiid played 38 minutes and had 38 points and 12 rebounds in the 76ers’ 122-119 overtime loss at Cleveland a night earlier. The reigning MVP is averaging an NBA-best 31.9 points per game this season with 11.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists a game. It will be the first missed game for Embiid this season.

The Houston Texans host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. A win by the Texans will move them into first place in the division. Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud and the Texans have six wins to double their total from last season and have won three games in a row for the first time since a nine-game streak in 2018. Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are looking to redeem themselves after Houston got a 37-17 win over them in Week 3.

The Denver Broncos put their four-game winning streak on the line Sunday against a Cleveland Browns team that is 7-3 for just the second time since 1999. Russell Wilson is having a resurgent season for the Broncos but Denver's defense will be without safety Kareem Jackson for the next month after his first tackle back from suspension resulted in a second suspension, this one for four games. Jackson launched and hit Vikings QB Joshua Dobbs with the crown of his helmet last week in his return from a two-game banishment for his illegal hit on a Green Bay player.

Marlon Humphrey and Ronnie Stanley are back at practice for the Baltimore Ravens after missing last week because of calf and knee injuries. The cornerback and left tackle were both listed as limited Wednesday, but their return was a good sign for a Baltimore team that just lost tight end Mark Andrews to an ankle injury. The Ravens beat Cincinnati 34-20 last Thursday. They play on the road Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Ravens have also designated cornerback Pepe Williams for return from injured reserve, and he was a full participant in practice.

Led by Xaivian Lee's 19 points, the Princeton Tigers defeated the Old Dominion Monarchs 76-56 on Wednesday night. The Tigers improved to 5-0 with the victory and the Monarchs fell to 1-3.

Led by Daniel Batcho's 17 points, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs defeated the McNeese Cowboys 71-62 on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs are now 4-1 with the win and the Cowboys dropped to 5-2.

Led by Jordan Lathon's 27 points, the Morehead State Eagles defeated the Midway Eagles 94-53 on Wednesday night. The Eagles are now 4-3 on the season.

The UT Martin Skyhawks defeated the North Alabama Lions 105-103 in double overtime on Wednesday night led by Jordan Sears' 34 points. The Skyhawks moved to 4-2 with the victory and the Lions dropped to 3-2.

The Kansas City Chiefs visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Kansas City has won the past five meetings, 10 of the previous 11 and 15 of 17. The Chiefs are coming off a 21-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. Las Vegas lost 20-13 at the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Oddsmakers favor the Chiefs by 9 1/2 points. Kansas City's offense and defense ranked in the top eight. The Raiders' units are closer to the bottom.

The New York Giants will try to win consecutive games for the first time this season when they play host to Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Giants snapped a three-game losing streak and improved their record to 3-8, beating the Washington Commanders 31-19 behind three-touchdown passes by Tommy DeVito in Week 11. The Patriots had a bye last week. They have a 2-8 record and they have lost three straight games. This will be their second trip to New Jersey this season. They beat the Jets 15-10 in September.

A day after linebacker Shaquille Leonard was cut by the Indianapolis Colts, players expressed shock and sadness in the locker room. Leonard was a three-time All-Pro but didn't make any big plays this season after undergoing two back surgeries for an injured nerve that caused pain through his leg. He was a leader for the Colts on the field and in the locker room. Fellow linebacker Zaire Franklin had the locker next to Leonard's for three years and says “it just feels different” without his friend. Coach Shane Steichen called it “a tough decision” to let Leonard go.

Even as the Golden Knights, Raiders, Aces and even Formula One have captured most of the attention in the local sporting scene this year, Las Vegas has quietly reasserted itself as the boxing capital of the world. A year of major fights culminates Saturday night when undefeated boxers David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade meet for the interim WBC super middleweight championship. Benavidez is the WBC interim title holder and Andrade is a two-division champion.

Allen Flanigan scored 26 points, including two free throws with 9.2 seconds left, and Mississippi defeated Temple 77-76. Quante Berry of Temple missed a 3-pointer from the right wing as time ran out. Hysier Miller got a pair of second-chance free throws for Temple’s first lead at 76-75 with 1:39 to play. Both teams then swapped empty possessions marked by contested, difficult shots before Matthew Murrell of Ole Miss tried to spin in a layup. The ball ended up in a scrum and went off a Temple player out of bounds with 17.9 seconds to go. Flanigan then drove into the lane and drew a foul. Miller led the Owls  with 21 points.

HONOLULU (AP) — Hunter Dickinson had 17 points and 20 rebounds and No. 1 Kansas pulled away for a 69-60 victory over No. 7 Tennessee on Wednesday.

The San Francisco 49ers’ unexpected three-game losing streak that opened up the NFC West race already seems like a long time ago. The 49ers play at Seattle on Thursday night with a chance to take a two-game lead in the division. A win by the 49ers would be their fourth straight over the Seahawks and their 10th straight against NFC West opponents. A win by Seattle would erase the taste of a frustrating loss last Sunday at the Los Angeles Rams and pull the Seahawks even in the standings heading into a brutal stretch of their schedule.

CHICAGO — Coby White has been here before.

Cameron Brink scored 27 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help lead No. 4 Stanford to a 74-55 victory over Belmont in the opening round of the Ball Dawgs Classic. The Bruins turned in a formidable performance before national powerhouse Stanford (5-0) pulled away for the win. After falling behind 33-32 early in the third quarter, a 3-pointer by Hannah Jump ignited a 9-0 run - the other six points coming from Brink - as the Cardinal took a 41-33 lead to seize control. And when the Bruins (2-3) cut their deficit to six, 59-53 with 4:34 left in the game, the Cardinal closed things out on a 15-2 run for the win.
