Austria are playing at Euro 2022. Five years ago they reached the semi-finals of the Euros in the Netherlands. The team is now better than before. Irene Fuhrmann took over from Dominik Thalhammer in 2020. Only 7% of active players in Austria are female. Austria struggled to get young girls into football. They qualified as one of best group runners-up in Euro 2016 qualifying. Carina Wenninger was part of their 2017 squad.

Irene Fuhrmann became the first woman to lead the Austrian national team in July 2020. She took over from Dominik Thalhammer, who became LASK men's coach. Fhuhmann won 23 caps for Austria.

Sarah Zadrazil is a key midfielder for Champions League quarter-finalists Bayern Munich and the Austrian national team. She is an ambassador for WePlayStrong.com and launched her first girls’ football camp in May 2022.

Barbara Dunst has just completed an outstanding season for German side Eintracht Frankfurt. She was part of the 2017 squad but didn't play a single minute.

Nina Burger retired in 2019. She scored 53 goals in 108 appearances for Austria. Burger was influential in the development of women's football in Austria and is now in charge of the women’s football section at First Vienna FC.

Austria qualified for the last Euro 2017 in the Netherlands. They beat Switzerland and Iceland in their group and drew against France. Then they knocked out France in quarter-finals and lost to Denmark in last four.

Austria are in Euro 2022. They play England first and then Northern Ireland. The winner of the game against Norway will play Austria in the quarter-finals.
