Euro 2022 has largely gone to form, but Austria have stood out as overachievers

Austria have exceeded expectations at Euro 2022. They beat Norway and Germany in the group stage. Belgium play Sweden on Friday evening. Austria have twice conceded the first goal of the game, to England and to Germany. Austria's approach has been consistent. Nicola Billa, Nicola Puntigam, Sarah Zadrazil and Barbara Dunst have been instrumental in their success. Germany were beaten by Denmark, Italy and France. England beat Austria 1-0 in Euro 2012's opening game. The reaction to that game was generally negative. However, Austria were well-organised and disciplined.
