Avatar star 'wasn't gutted' about failed James Bond audition
Sam Worthington was second in the Bond odds running from Ladbrokes at the time. He got to the final three of the casting in 2005, but was beaten at last hurdle by Daniel Craig. Worhington didn't feel disappointed about not getting the role. He said he wouldn't want to see a James Bond movie with him in it anyway. The actor pointed out that someone else from his country had already been 007.
Worthington didn't feel gutted about his failed James Bond audition. He learned a lot from it and used it to prepare for the Avatar auditions. He was eventually cast as Jake Sully in the movie. George Lazenby was the last Australian actor to play James Bonds. In 2005, Cavill was told he was too fat to be Bond. Martin Campbell berated him.
