Event Preview
The Bahrain Grand Prix kicks off the 2023 season, with drivers set to complete 57 laps and a total race distance of 308.238km this weekend. There are three DRS Detection zones on the Bahrain International Circuit to help overtaking, and testing was held at the track last week to offer some key insights into the cars for the upcoming season.

The strategy will once again be key, and they will be keen to get off to a perfect start under new team principal Frederic Vasseur.
Testing wasn’t without its issues for Mercedes, but they finally looked to iron out issues from Friday on Saturday, with Lewis Hamilton clocking the second-quickest time overall. However, a race win may still be a push, meaning a podium finish could be the best that they could manage on Sunday.
Instead of challenging for victory, Mercedes may face a battle from Aston Martin this weekend, who looked to have built an extremely competitive car for 2023. We could see the team claiming victory at least once this season, and Fernando Alonso may be an interesting selection to finish on the podium.
