Bayern Munich will be hoping to challenge for the Champions League title following a relatively disappointing 2022/23 campaign.

Although Thomas Tuchel's side won the Bundesliga title on the final day of the season, they were knocked out by Manchester City in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Amid a campaign of upheaval at the club, CEO Oliver Khan was replaced with Jan-Christian Dreesen, while board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic also stepped down from his role. That came after coach Julian Nagelsmann was sacked and replaced by Tuchel — a move that did not have the desired immediate effect on results.

The Sporting News looks at the Bayern players contracted for the 2023/24 season.

Bayern have already made two key transfers as they have signed Konrad Laimer and Raphael Guerreiro for free from rivals RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Lucas Hernandez and Daley Blind have both left the club along with youngster Bright Arrey-Mbi. Still, the Bundesliga champions still have a lot of defenders contracted to the club, with Kim Min-jae also set to join from Napoli.

The futures of Sadio Mane, Yann Sommer and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are all under question amidst interest from Saudi Arabia.

Marcel Sabitzer, Alexander Nubel, Malik Tillman, and Gabriel Vidovic all returned from loan spells in the 2022/23 season.

How Bayern Munich were built

Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala are two of nine academy players who are currently in the Bayern senior team. They do not have any players contracted beyond 2026/27, but that could change this season.

Manuel Neuer is Bayern's longest-serving player, joining back in July, 2011 from Schalke. He is contracted to the club until June, 2024, and the 37-year-old is set to return from a long-term injury.
