Best Bets for 11-16: Pitt vs. Boston College, NFL + College Basketball

I love betting on sports. For almost the past decade it has been a hobby of mine, even when you had to use an offshore sportsbook from somewhere in Costa Rica. From professional and college sports in America to soccer across the pond. Hell, when we were in the pandemic, I was betting baseball games in Korea and Taiwan just to get my fix of winning.

I just love it.

Every day I will be giving you my best picks for the day in the sports world. We will try to stay within the traditional sports, but we break into the obscure or ones you weren’t thinking of. Props and future bets aren’t off the table either. So, buckle up.

Pitt (-3) vs Boston College

Standalone game for Pitt on Senior Day. Does it get any better? Well, the way Pitt has finished this 2023 season it could be way better. Regardless, the Panthers find themselves as a surprising 3-point favorite versus a Boston College team that has already qualified for a bowl game, but the line shouldn’t surprise if you have followed how the Eagles have played this year.

Seven of the ten games BC has played this year have been decided by a touchdown or less, with 5 of the games being decided by a field goal or less. The Eagles are 5-2 in games decided by a touchdown or less but are only 3-2 in games decided by a field goal or less. Pitt has won 5 of their last 6 games on Senior Day, with the only loss in that stretch coming to Boston College in 2019.

The Panthers had their heads spinning after the Wild Orange of Syracuse raced up and down Yankee Stadium, but I believe they go out swinging for the Seniors on Thursday Night.

Pitt wins and covers the -3, 20-14.

Cincinnati vs Baltimore (-3.5)

The starting dish on a menu full of great NFL action this weekend. Both these teams had very surprising losses on Sunday, though I was not surprised with the Ravens loss since I bet Cleveland to win outright as a big underdog.

Baltimore took the first meeting between these AFC North rivals in Week 2 by three, but we all know that is the best time to play Joe Burrow, who has looked better and healthier since. And with Joe Burrow, the Bengals have played very well against these Ravens.

Since 2021 (including playoffs), Burrow is 4-2 vs the Ravens with both losses having come by less than 3 points including the Week 2 contest. The Bengals will be without Tee Higgins, and that will mean a big spot for Tyler Boyd who seemingly always makes a big play when they play the Ravens. Marlon Humphrey is also Out today for the Ravens. I like Boyd’s Over 44.5 receiving yards in this game.

I also like Lamar Jackson to go Over 46.5 rushing yards in the game, a number that he has gone Over in the 7 of the last 8 games vs the Bengals. For the game, I like Cincinnati to keep this close within 3 points, they may even win the game outright.

Bengals cover +3.5, Ravens 24 – Bengals 21

Bonus College Basketball Pick

My bonus college basketball pick is a bet against a team I have loved to fade for almost the last five years: Chicago State.

Chicago State is one of the bottom programs in D1 college hoops. They used to be in the WAC, but they were so bad they moved to an independent schedule. Tonight, they face Southern Illinois at 8pm. The Salukis crushed Queens College last week, who is a pretty good team. I believe they will crush Chicago State tonight as well. This line could move higher so get it while it’s good.

Southern Illinois Covers -14.5 vs Chicago State.
