Bet365 Fillies’ Mile: Ante-post preview and tip
The Rowley Mile is the opening race of the Dubai Future Champions Festival on Friday. John and Thady Gosden have an unbeaten filly at odds-on at the top of their betting. The market has been accurate in the Fillies' Mile in recent years with 12 winners from 26 favourites or joint-favourites since 1997. Since the race has moved to Newmarket from Ascot, it’s a 53.9% strike and performance 44% better than market expectation.
Commissioning is the favourite for the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket. She beat seven last-time out winners in the Rockfel and another Group Three winner. Commissioning's granddam is Aga Khan-bred Dialafara. Dialaffara has produced strong Ballydoyle stayers Capri, Passion and Cypress Creek.
Be Happy is the favourite for the Ballydoyle. Aidan O'Brien has been double-handed in this race in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020. Be Happy won her debut race at Cork last time. Never Ending Story has the most experience in the field. Delightful has an entry in maiden company at Thurles on Thursday. The winner of the race will be announced on the morning of BALLYDoyle on Friday.
Bright Diamond and Sparkling Beauty are both doubtful stayers. Bright Diamond smashed some well-bred fillies on debut with striking late sectionals and posted similar splits in defeat in Group Three company at Goodwood. Sparking Beauty has a granddam that has produced a lot of high-class sprinters. She hasn't hit the line particularly strongly in each of her three starts over seven furlongs.
Polly Pott is third in the betting currently. Polly Pots has got better with each run and her effort in May Hill last time was excellent. She has plenty of experience and is experienced on undulating tracks.
Novakai (14-1) bounced back from an underwhelming effort in the Sweet Solera last time and is expected to do the same in May Hill. Polly Pott (20-2) is a forward racer and may have positional advantage off a slower gallop. Alseyoob (21-4) beat some good fillies on debut at Newmarket and won going away at the line at Ascot.
Commissioning has the best form coming into this race. Library is an interesting contender who could get something of an unhassled lead.
