If it weren’t for an extraordinary fourth quarter in Game 2, the chances of the Miami Heat would already be dwindling.

During that quarter, the Heat had an incredible Offensive Rating of 190 and outscored their opponent by 11 points. However, in the other 15 quarters, they have a cumulative -47 point differential.

Miami has faced a tough stretch, losing six of their last eight games, with five of those losses coming by double digits. Their Offensive Rating in that span is 109.5, which would have ranked them 29th in the regular season. In Game 3, they managed to contain everyone else but still lost to those two players. In Game 4, they slowed down Jokic and Murray but were defeated by the rest of the Nuggets’ team.

Coach Spoelstra and the Heat have tried everything in their arsenal to combat Denver, but the Nuggets’ offense continues to thrive with impressive Offensive Ratings of 120 without even reaching their full potential. Denver’s offensive capabilities are formidable, while Miami’s performance seems limited. The Heat’s 3-point attempt rate dropped to 35% in the last two games after taking and making a significant number of shots from downtown in Game 2. Their average points per game outside of the outlier fourth quarter is a mere 95.2. It’s simply not sufficient to compete against the Nuggets.

It’s important to acknowledge the Heat’s commendable journey, and out of respect, I will refrain from exploring alternative lines that favor the Nuggets, a choice I would make against almost any other team.
