Scotland vs Cyprus betting tips

Scotland’s quest to reach back-to-back European Championships begins this Saturday when they welcome Cyprus to Hampden.

It’s an exciting time for Steve Clarke’s men with the recent promotion to League A of the Nations League capping off a solid couple of years.

But it’s all eyes on Euro 2024 this weekend with Spain to come in just a few days’ time.

Hampden has become something of a fortress in recent times with just one defeat in the last eight games – that being the crunch World Cup play off with Ukraine.

And of the other seven games, it’s six wins and a draw – including victories over Ukraine, Denmark and old foes Israel.

So it’s perhaps no surprise to see Scotland at just 1/4 with William Hill to start the campaign with the three points.

Although the past four times they've met, Scotland have won by a 2-1 scoreline - weird, right?

World number 110 side Cyprus are 14/1 to go one better and get a result here.

Goals galore...

Both teams have scored in all five of the previous meetings between the teams since 1989.

And while that could well be the case here, Scotland are a different proposition at the minute.

With goals in their side now too (seven in the last three games at Hampden), it could well be a strong showing to start the campaign - which isn't usually the case.

Cyrprus conceded twice at Northern Ireland last year, twice in Israel and FIVE in Kosovo - so Scotland could post a decent number if coming out firing.

Target time

With plenty of goals comes plenty of chances at goal and Scotland should have more than their fair share.

Che Adams is likely to lead the line and will hope to add to his international tally of five goals.

While John McGinn continues to be the top scorer for the Tartan Army since Steve Clarke's introduction.

Ryan Christie hasn't let Clarke down and will hope to feature from the start or make a customary impact off the bench.

Fast start

As mentioned before, it's not unusual to see Scotland get off to a slow start in qualifying.

That shouldn't be the case this time with a packed Hampden and crowd who believe this is the start of something good.

The hosts should be on the front foot from the get-go and it might be worth taking a punt on a very fast start.

They're 1/2 to score in the first half, so we've gone for a bit more value here....
