Betting tips for the NLCS and ALCS

The 2022 MLB postseason continues Tuesday with the start of the National League Championship Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres. The rain has wreaked havoc on the timetable for the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians, who will try to settle their ALDS best-of-five and finally determine which team gets to move on to face the Houston Astros.

Eric Karabell picks the Phillies. Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola will start four of the first six games. Bryce Harper should be able to reach his first World Series.

Todd Zola is taking the Padres. Todd Zula likes the fact there is only one off day. If the teams go 2-2 in the games with their top two starters matching up, Todd would back the San Diego Padres to take two of the other three games.

The Phillies are the better team, so Derek Carty will take them at plus money.

Tristan H. Cockcroft picks the Phillies as a strong betting choice for the NLCS and ALCS.

There have been a fair share of home runs in the postseason from both NL teams. Juan Soto is the favorite to have the most in NLCS. Harper has three homers and three doubles in this postseason. Zola is impressed with his batted balls over 95 mph. Karabell goes with Machado.

The Astros have won their sixth consecutive ALCS. Karabell and Zola think they are the favorite. They think the Astros are capable of winning a long series. They also think their depth is a plus.

The Astros are the clear class of the remaining teams in the American League. They have a scheduling advantage and they might be able to wrap up the ALCS early and then roll that edge over for the World Series.
