Wolves vs Chelsea betting tips

Chelsea make the trip to Molineux on Saturday for their Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers. And, given their recent exploits, this one isn't expected to be a classic in any shape or form.

The Blues arrive having played out an extremely tedious goalless draw with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. It was the third-successive stalemate between the pair and now means Chelsea have gone over 180 minutes without scoring.

Any hopes of Champions League qualification have more or less evaporated over their last three matches, in which they've taken two points. But entry to the Europa or Conference Leagues are viable given they trail six-placed Brighton by seven points with nine matches remaining.

As for hosts Wolves, they've also stuttered in recent weeks having looked likely to escape the relegation battle. Julen Lopetegui managed four Premier League wins in his opening seven games, but has now lost four of the last seven.

Their midweek draw with Nottingham Forest leaves them in 14th position on 28 points and just one clear of Bournemouth in the relegation zone. They will also have to cope without midfield general Ruben Neves, who is suspended for this weekend's match.

Dry...

Wolves scored with their one and only effort on target against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, but that should be no surprise given nobody has scored less than Julen Lopetegui's side this season.

In fact, only last year's relegated trio scored less than Wolves in the previous campaign. They've failed to score at home in four of their last seven matches in all competitions, and lost three of those by a 1-0 scoreline.

Despite spending an enormous amount in the January transfer window, Chelsea forgot to get themselves a goalscorer. 27 efforts on target against Aston Villa on Saturday resulted in eight on target and zero goals. They didn't fare much better against Liverpool either.

We expect to see another low-scoring affair, and Chelsea could arguably field a weaker starting XI given their Champions League commitments.

On target…

Wolves have conceded 25 efforts on target in their last four Premier League matches. Only Bournemouth, Leicester and Brentford have shipped more. And during that run, they've conceded the most chances of any side from a central position (21).

And that could be music to the ears of the Chelsea attack. Kai Havertz and Joao Felix have combined to have 37 efforts on goal in the last five matches, with 15 of those on target.

The pair are playing through the middle under caretaker boss Bruno Saltor in a 3-5-2 and will likely be desperate to end the sides drought. So expect plenty of shots, folks!

Bookings…

Nelson Semedo is in the form of his life… in terms of bookings.

The 29-year-old has picked up FIVE yellow cards in his last eight matches, including three-successive cautions against Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Newcastle.

The full-back will be up against the marauding Ben Chilwell and one of Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk or even Christian Pulisic and should have a serious task on his hands.
