Bettors Flocking to Scheffler, McIlroy & Woods

Just one day away from the first round at the Masters, bets are pouring in with eager gamblers looking to cash in on the opening major of 2023.

BetMGM released some interesting numbers based on their handle – and also some numbers that will come as absolutely no surprise.

In terms of the unsurprising factors, Tiger Woods is still commanding a solid portion of the action. Not only has Woods tracked 4.9% of the wagers and 4.2% of the handle at a +6600 price, he’s also the most-bet on player to miss the cut.

Woods has also carried a significant portion of the top-10, top-20 bets and so forth. The +6600 price Woods has is notably large, though you can get him at an even better price at other sportsbooks.

It’s no shocker to see Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy as the two most wagered on players to win the Masters either. Scheffler, the defending champion, has amassed 8.7% of the tickets and 13.5% of the handle. Scheffler is listed at +700.

McIlroy (+700), who is aiming to complete the career grand slam, is in line behind Scheffler with 7.5% of the tickets and 11.1% of the handle.

Jordan Spieth, the 2015 Masters champion, has received 7.2% of the bets and 9.3% of the handle at a +1800 price.

The biggest name that bettors aren’t the most confident in is Jon Rahm. He’s only tracked 5.5% of the bets and 6.0% of the handle, though his odds have dropped from +1200 to +900.

First round action will get underway tomorrow morning.
