Big 12 Football Power Rankings: Week 5

The college football season wrapped up in Week 4. The Big 12 started to get into more conference play. Kansas Jayhawks improved to 4-0, while TCU took back the Iron Skillet from SMU.

Kansas broke the jinx and became the new No. 1 team in the Big 12 Football Power Rankings. The previous two weeks the No 1 teams had lost. Kansas has scored 27 touchdowns through four games after scoring only 32 in 12 games last season.

Kansas State beat Oklahoma on the road. Adrian Martinez had a big game. The defense was stout. Oklahoma has lost nine home games since 2012. Four of those losses have been to K-State.

Baylor Bears are the third team in the Big 12 Football Power Rankings. They are defending champions. Their quarterback is better than Iowa State's first-year one.

Oklahoma State Cowboys were idle this week and get bumped down two slots. They haven't played the toughest schedule yet.

The West Virginia Mountaineers beat Virginia Tech on Thursday night. J.T. Daniels and C.J. Donaldson could become one of the better QB-RB duos in the Big 12 this season.

TCU beat SMU on the road on Saturday. Kendre Miller and Max Duggan are playing well for the Horned Frogs. They play Oklahoma this Saturday in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Iowa State Cyclones lost to Baylor on Saturday. They travel to Kansas this weekend. They can take down the No. 1 team in the rankings.

Iowa State is ranked No. 8 over Oklahoma, because Iowa State has the better win over Iowa. Oklahoma is No 9.

Texas lost a game at home against a team that was leading by 14 points. Texas is 2-4 against Big 12 teams when leading in the second half.
