It was one of those odd cases of ‘you wouldn't want it again' as it looked like Veranskova wouldn't wind up to hit the line, but the Alderson galloper did get there in the nick of time for favourite backers in the first.

These cracks at the G3 Baillieu Handicap went by the wayside, with Godolphin pair Amur and Inhibitions filling the quinella.

Gold Trip came up a few lengths short, while Montefilia was the only danger to winner Arapaho late but ultimately fell short.

The Snowden gelding started the $4F, but finished 5th, beaten 2.83L.

He was shooting for five straight wins, but the streak came to an end as he was beaten over 8L.
