Last weekend's Premier League break means that Nottingham Forest haven't played a game since their 2-2 home draw with Blackpool in the FA Cup a week and a half ago.
Forest were 2-0 down at the half hour mark of that meeting, but earned a draw to force a replay and keep their unbeaten run going, which now stands at three games since Nuno Espirito Santo took over as manager following the sacking of Steve Cooper.
The East Midlands side have won two out of two under Nuno in the Premier League, beating sides who were in this season's Champions League on both occasions, first winning away at Newcastle before following it up with a home victory over Manchester United.
The back to back victories in the league has opened up a four point gap between themselves and the relegation zone, with Nuno's side now sitting up in 15th place.
Blackpool prepare to welcome the Premier League side while currently enjoying a purple patch of their own, having won their last three matches when not including their draw at the City Ground a couple of weekends ago.
After their 2-0 win at home against Exeter on the weekend, Neil Critchley's side, despite being eighth in the League One table, boast the best home record in the third tier, having picked up at least four more points than any other team in the division.
The Tangerines have won their last five matches at Bloomfield Road and will back themselves to upset Nottingham Forest on their home patch tonight, where the winner of the tie will face an away trip to Bristol City.
Games involving Nottingham Forest are averaging just shy of four goals per games since Nuno took over as manager at the City Ground nearly a month ago, and goals can be expected tonight once more in a high-stakes affair.
