Blake Snell next team odds: Yankees, Giants among favourites to land two-time Cy Young winner

Blake Snell, the reigning NL Cy Young winner, is one of the biggest names left in MLB's free agency.

The latest: There are a long list of teams that would love to have Snell's services and right atop it sits the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants. The Los Angeles Angels hold the third-shortest odds and are looking to fill a Shohei Ohtani-sized hole in their roster.

Here are our latest Snell next team odds as of January 10.

Snell next team odds: Yankees are the betting favourite

What's better than one Cy Young winner? Two Cy Young winners, of course.

The Yankees already have their bonafide ace in Gerrit Cole, but Snell would quickly turn New York's rotation into one of the most formidable in MLB.

The 6-foot-4 southpaw led the majors in ERA (2.25) last season while holding opponents to the lowest batting average (.181). Snell also placed third in strikeouts (234).

If there was one hole to poke in his case it would be that he led the league in walks (99) but any team would be more than willing to look past that.

New York would be a nice fit for Snell considering how bad the team's starting rotation looks after Cole.

The Yankees traded one of their better arms, Michael King, to the San Diego Padres for Juan Soto earlier this offseason. Their other three pitchers — Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortez and Clark Schmidt — all had ERA's above 4.60 last year.

Other contenders to sign Snell

Giants (+250): The Giants have already made a few big splashes this offseason by signing KBO MVP Jung-Hoo Lee and trading for former AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray.

And it seems like they're in the market to make more moves after falling short in their pursuit of Ohtani.

Ray missed most of last season due to injury and will slot in alongside Logan Webb and Alex Cobb to help San Francisco form a solid rotation. Snell would certainly elevate that group to another tier.

Angels (+500): Imagine having the best player in MLB history and letting him walk for nothing. Well, that's exactly what the Angels did with Ohtani.

Replacing a player of that calibre is almost impossible but Snell would be a good start in filling one of the team's many holes.

The Angels rank a pedestrian 14th in payroll next season, according to Spotrac.com, and could certainly shell out some coin for the southpaw.

FanGraphs projects Snell would command a five-year, $125-million contract.
