Blazers vs. Grizzlies prediction and odds for Wednesday, February 1 (Memphis thrives at home)

The Memphis Grizzlies put their brutal road trip behind them on Sunday, pulling off a comeback win against the Indiana Pacers.

Now, Memphis has another home matchup, this time with the Portland Trail Blazers, on Wednesday. Portland has fallen off since a hot start to the 2022-23 season, and it currently sits in the No. 12 spot in the West at two games below .500.

With Damian Lillard playing at a high level, the Blazers don’t want to waste this season by missing the playoffs.

Both teams have injuries that could swing this game. For Memphis, Desmond Bane is listed as questionable, a positive step forward after he missed the team’s last two games. Danny Green and John Konchar are also listed as questionable while Steven Adams is out.

Portland has listed Josh Hart as questionable and Jusuf Nurkic as probable for this matchup.

The Blazers are 10-15 on the road this season, so they may have trouble with the league’s best home team. Memphis is 21-3 at FedEx Forum this season.

I love the Grizzlies to stay hot at home, especially since Portland is just 9-9 against the spread as a road dog, losing those games by an average of 6.3 points.

Memphis came back from a double-digit deficit to win by 12 against Indiana on Sunday, and I think the team should be favored by even more with Bane having a chance to return to the lineup tonight.

The difference in this game is going to come on the defensive end, especially since Portland has the offense to keep up with Ja Morant and the Grizz.

The issue? The Blazers rank 26th in the NBA in defensive rating, allowing over 120 points in each of their last five games.

The Grizzlies come into this game with the No. 2 defense in the league, and they’ve been even better at home, ranking No. 1 in the NBA.

Memphis is too good at home for me not to bet on it in this spot.
