Blue Jackets preseason win over Buffalo Sabres takeaways Meyer Tarasov

The Blue Jackets beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-1 on Wednesday. They beat Pittsburgh Penguins 5-0 on Sunday evening. The Jackets lost to the Penguins in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

Carson Meyer impressed Blue Jackets coach Brad Larsen. Meyer is one of a few players who are fighting for a spot in the bottom six. He had five shots, six hits, one blocked shot and one goal in 15:34. His six hit were a game-high. He has to find the line between his physicality and not injuring his teammates. Blue Jacket's preseason win over Buffalo Sabres was their first game. They are preparing for the NHL season. The season starts on October 1. It's a tough choice for Blue Jackets' coach.

Brad Larsen was surprised by the energy of the Blue Jackets in the third period. The team outshot the Sabres 13-2 in first period and scored two goals. Larsens team had an intense training camp.   The game ended in a 2-1 victory for the Jackets.

Daniil Tarasov played 31:24 in his first game since hip surgery. He made nine saves on 10 shots. Jet Greaves played the first 31 minutes of the game. Joonas Korpisalo had the same surgery about a month after Tar asov. Greave and Taraov could earn the backup job in Columbus behind Elvis Merzlikins.
