Columbus Blue Jackets: Players compete for limited roster spots

The Columbus Blue Jackets have 68 players invited to training camp. They have to choose a 23-player roster in two weeks. Carson Meyer is one of 40 forwards competing for fewer than 15 spots. The team plays two split squad games on Sunday. The first scrimmage of camp was intense. Meyer made his NHL debut in April. He played 13 games with the Jackets and in the AHL. His shot and physical play are effective in training camps. If he can combine that with his physical game, his chances of making the final cut may go up.
