Bookie operators sued over alleged sports broadcast copyright infringement
Sis Media Ltd is suing John and Laura Patton, who run five bookmakers' outlets. It claims they are in breach of copyright by showing copyrighted broadcasts in their shops. Sis provides live feed channels called SIs One and SIS Two to bookies. The company terminated its contract with AlphaBet due to non-payment of fees. John Patton's daughter is the holder of the bookie's licence. She refused to give a subscription for the channels to him. Mr Justice Denis McDonald will decide whether the case should be admitted to the Commercial Court.
