Defending champions, the Springboks are only fourth favourites to win this year’s Rugby World Cup title, according to the latest odds from local bookmakers.

South African bookies Hollywoodbets have 2022 Six Nations champions France at 28/10 to lift the Webb Ellis Cup for the first time after the final at the Stade de France on 28 October. The tournament will kick off on 8 September.

Three-time champions, the All Blacks have been installed as 3/1 second-favourites.

Newly crowned Six Nations champions and the world’s top-ranked Ireland, despite a poor World Cup record, are third favourites at 4/1, followed by the Springboks at 9/2.

England are backed to triumph at 8/1, while Australia (10/1), Scotland (25/1), Argentina and Wales (both 28/1) are seen as the only other likely winners.
