Rugby World Cup 2023 odds: Eddie Jones Wallaby appointment

Despite being defending champions, the Springboks are only third favourites to win this year’s Rugby World Cup title.

Thanks to some inspired play throughout 2022, World Cup 2023 hosts France have been installed as the team to beat.

The Springboks will be looking for a record fourth World Cup triumph following their wins in 1995, 2007 and 2019.

Eddie Jones named Australia coach

Leading South African bookmakers Hollywoodbets have France at 5/2 to lift the Webb Ellis Cup for the first time after the final at the Stade de France on 28 October 2023.

The All Blacks, despite ongoing questions surrounding the coaching structure, are second best at 3/1, followed by the Springboks at an attractive-looking 5/1.

World No 1-ranked Ireland, despite their poor World Cup record, are fourth favourites at 11/2, followed by England at 6/1.

Australia (11/1) and Wales (25/1) and Argentina (28/1) are the only other possible winners.

As reported by The South African website on Monday, Australia appointed Eddie Jones as their new coach until 2027, replacing sacked New Zealander Dave Rennie.
