PSG seek cure for travel bug

PSG were easily intimidated by the cauldron-like atmosphere in their group stage match at Newcastle United, which they lost 4-1, and Signal Iduna Park could replicate the noise on Tyneside, potentially leading to a positive result for the home side.

Dortmund beat the Magpies 2-0 in their last Champions League home game and have been solid on their own patch of late, also beating the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim recently and going four games without conceding when playing at home in this tournament.

PSG have lost both away group stage matches so far – also going down 2-1 to bottom of the group Milan in their latest road game in the competition – and tend to perform better in Paris.

In fact, the Parisians have won just two of their last 11 away matches in the Champions League and, with so much riding on this game, they could be in for more trouble on their travels in Germany.

They have drawn with Club Brugge, RB Leipzig and Benfica in that run, who are sides at a similar or slightly worse level than Dortmund, and the hosts will be feeling confident of getting the result they need to top the group.

However, PSG still boast a frightening attack and stars all over the pitch, so Dortmund may not get it all their own way and it may be a smart move to cover the possibility of a draw just in case.

Fullkrug finds form

Niclas Fullkrug struggled to find his feet in Dortmund for a while after his move from Werder Bremen but has hit form recently, netting three times in his previous four Bundesliga games.

The German target man is set to lead the line for BVB with Sebastian Haller still absent and rates a solid bet to get on the scoresheet at 5/2.

Dortmund have opened the scoring in their previous three Champions League matches and will be keen to make a fast start on Wednesday, so Fullkrug’s first goalscorer odds of 13/2 also appeal.

Star men worth a shot

Our final selection utilises Unibet’s bet-builder option, with shots on target and goals for both sides combining for a 9/1 coupon.

Kylian Mbappe has registered eight shots on target in his past three Champions League matches and managed at least three efforts on goal in three of his last four Ligue 1 games, suggesting he could get plenty of attempts away on Wednesday.

Veteran Dortmund star Marco Reus scored against Milan in their previous Champions League outing and could be in the thick of the action again on Wednesday, with PSG’s open style of play likely to give the attacking midfielder lots of opportunities to test Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Both teams have scored in four of PSG’s last six away matches, including both their road Champions League games, and the same should occur in an open game on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund vs PSG tip 3: Bet builder: Kylian Mbappe over 1.5 shots on target, Marco Reus over 0.5 shots on target and both teams to score @ 16/5 with Unibet
