Bournemouth vs Liverpool Odds & Picks

With just five games in this round of EPL fixtures, Liverpool has a chance to widen the gap atop the EPL table. While the Cherries have been much improved, our soccer betting picks see only one likely outcome. A going-away Liverpool win.

Sunday sees Bournemouth host Liverpool on the South Coast. The visitors come into this one top of the Premier League table and eying up a title, while Bournemouth sit comfortably in mid-table and look much improved this season.

Can an in-form Bournemouth defy the soccer odds take something from this one or will Liverpool just prove too strong? Don’t miss our free soccer picks for Bournemouth vs. Liverpool on Sunday, January 21.

EPL predictions for Bournemouth vs Liverpool

This Sunday we see Bournemouth and Liverpool meet at the Vitality Stadium with both teams having impressive years. With a reduced Premier League slate that sees just five games, it’s this meeting that really stands out as a must-watch with two of the league’s most attractive teams coming face to face.

Bournemouth have been a surprise package this year. Last season they finished 15th in the Premier League with 39 points, five points clear from the drop. They made a maligned managerial change with Andoni Iraola coming in and they’ve been excellent this season. They’re already 25 points and are just four wins behind last year’s total of 11. They’ve become one of the most enjoyable teams to watch and the development of Dominic Solanke into one of the Premier League’s better strikers has been genuinely impressive.

That said a trip away from Liverpool is always tough and Jurgen Klopp’s team leads the Premier League and have been the best team so far. I can’t escape the feeling that Man City will get things together and grab the title from them but Liverpool really have been exceptional. In fact, they’re so good that my best bet is for Liverpool to win with a -1.5 goal handicap.

There are a number of important Liverpool players who are missing. Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo are on international duty, while Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Klopp’s preferred fullbacks, are both injured. As is Dominik Szobaszlai with the Hungarian thought to be a doubt for this game.

However, despite those injuries, I think they’ll win. The loss of Salah to the forward line is a big one but they can still call up any three of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota, who are more than capable of causing issues for any team in this league. That incredible depth and they now have that across the field, even in the middle of the park, where they were so short of talent last season.

Liverpool have just one loss in the Premier League this season, with their nearest rival having three. They just aren’t losing game and I think we’ll see them win comfortably here. With 43 goals scored, there are just two teams who have scored more than them and their total of 18 goals conceded in the best in the Premier League. I can’t see Liverpool conceding to a Bournemouth team who have scored just 28 times and they should be able to put multiple goals past them.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool same-game parlay

Liverpool to win by 2+ goalsDarwin Nunez anytime goal

Both teams to score — No

We’ll be backing the Merseysiders to win this by two or more goals, such is the quality in their attack but also in defense which should see them make it incredibly difficult for Bournemouth to score.

Next, we’re backing Darwin Nunez to score for Liverpool. The Uruguayan has been a bit of an enigma since arriving from Benfica. He’s capable of brilliance but at times he can also look out of his depth. That said he looks like he’s finally turned a corner. In his past four games, he’s scored once and assisted three more. That gives him five goals in 19 games, of which just 12 were starts, and I think he’ll get on the scoresheet here.

Then finally we’ll back Liverpool to keep a clean sheet. They have the best defensive record in the Premier League and there’s an argument that injuries to Robertson and Alexander-Arnold have meant a defensive reshuffle that might make them more conservative and structurally sound, even if it damages their attacking threat.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool side and Over/Under analysis

You can get -140 on a Liverpool win which is a very solid bet but I went for the -1.5 handicap to squeeze out an extra bit of value there but if you’re risk averse I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to take Klopp’s team on the moneyline instead. You can get +320 on either the draw or a home win but personally I don’t like the odds on either.

We should see goals here with Over 2.5 goals at -213 and the Under at +170. We’ve seen 73.7% of Bournemouth’s games hit the Over this season and 60% of Liverpool’s games, so it’s understandable why the odds are like that. It’s a market that I’d personally stay away from.
