Brendan Rodgers Sack Odds: Foxes Boss In Danger After Cup Exit

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers’ sack odds have slashed by over half to 10/1 to be the next Premier League manager sacked, after an embarrassing FA Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday.

The Championship side knocked out the Foxes, with a 2-1 victory at the King Power Stadium.

Tyrhys Dolan and Sammi Szmodics scored for the visitors making the most of some horrendous defending from Leicester. It’s the first time the Riversiders have reached an FA Cup quarter-final since 2015.

Kelechi Iheanacho – who Leicester have often relied on in this competition – scored a second half goal in an attempt to mount a comeback. However, despite a resilient effort to do so, the Foxes couldn’t find an equaliser.

There’s been unrest amongst Leicester fans for most of the season, with the Foxes’ poor performances. So, defeat to lower league opposition on Tuesday only added fuel to the fire.

Rodgers’ side sit in 14th place in the Premier League table, just three points off the bottom three. This defeat in the cup sets up a very fierce relegation dog fight as we enter the final 14 games of the season.

The Northern Irishman was speaking after the game.

“Disappointed for the supporters, it’s been a real challenge for them this season. The FA Cup was an opportunity for us to get to the quarter-finals, playing against a Championship team at home, but they were a lot better than us.

“We have to be worried about that.”

Next up for Leicester is a trip to Saint Mary’s to take on Southampton – who are bottom of the league. If the Foxes were to lose that, then it’ll certainly be a nervy journey home for the Leicester boss.
