Brewers vs. Mariners prediction and odds (Brewers will regress)

Few teams have got off to as good of a start as the Milwaukee Brewers have this season, sitting at 12-5 ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners.

The Brew Crew won in dominating fashion in the first game of the series, taking the 7-3 victory. Can they stay hot in Game 2 tonight against Logan Gilbert and co.?

Let’s take a look at the odds for this interleague matchup.

Brewers vs. Mariners odds, run line, and total

Brewers vs. Mariners prediction and pick

When you look at the Brewers numbers, there are very few holes and weaknesses you can find. They rank 7th in the Majors in OPS at 0.761and they lead all teams in bullpen ERA at 2.28.

But, can they keep up this level of play? I don’t think so.

Regression is coming for the Brewers, and tonight’s game against won of the best young pitchers in the American League could be the start of a decline.

Logan Gilbert sports an ERA of just 2.70 through his first three starts, with the Mariners winning two of those three games. They also have a strong bullpen to back him up, with an ERA of 3.43.

The Brewers hit the back end of their rotation tonight with Colin Rea, and why he allowed only one earned run in his first start, I don’t expect that to continue. Rea has bounced around from team to team through the first six years of his career, so along with Milwaukee’s offense, we’re going to see some regression from him.

I’ll back the Mariners on Tuesday night.
