Bricklayer's son Laqdar Ramoly shoots for a shock Group 1 win in Northerly Stakes

Laqdar Ramoly is a jockey apprentice in Perth. He is riding Notorious One in the Northerly Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. Ramol grew up in Mauritius and didn't learn about horses until he was 18. Mauritian training programs for prospective jockeys are very different to those in Australia. He was offered a job in Western Australia but decided to stay in his native Mauritians. His father is also a bricklayer. The Mauritien training program is very similar to that in WA. It was a nightmare for everyone, but it allowed Ramo to learn and improve his riding skills.
