Hammers cannot stop Seagulls soar

Brighton are top of the Premier League table – and while you cannot read too much into that after two games, they have been seriously impressive.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have picked up where they left off last season, beating both Luton Town and Wolves 4-1 in their opening pair of matches.

West Ham will provide a tougher test than those two relegation candidates but the Hammers are yet to beat the Seagulls since they were promoted to the top flight in 2017.

Brighton beat David Moyes’s men 4-0 on the South Coast in March and also won 2-0 at the London Stadium last term so should be confident of picking up three points again.

There have been over 2.5 goals in seven of the Seagulls’ previous eight top-flight games, including both this season, so backing them to win with over 2.5 goals is the play for this match.

Estupinan worth a shot

Pervis Estupinan, along with the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and Evan Ferguson, is among the next class of Brighton players who could fetch big fees.

The 25-year-old Ecuador international is primed for a breakout campaign and has already enjoyed an eventful season, scoring once and being shown two yellow cards already.

For that reason, we considered backing him to score or be cautioned at 13/5 but a shot on target offers great value at 3/1.

Of players on both sides, only Joao Pedro (six) has more shots on target than the Ecuadorian (three) in the Premier League this season.

We expect Brighton to dominate – and with West Ham averaging 4.5 shots on target against, Estupinan is a great price to get one of them.

March marching on

For our bet builder for this game we have added Brighton to win along with three other selections.

First up, we have backed Solly March to score anytime and continue his fine form. At the time of writing, the 29-year-old is the division’s top scorer with three goals in his opening two games.

A long-standing criticism of the Englishman and his side has been their inability to convert chances, but that seems to have changed this season. March has accrued 1.3 xG this term so is finally putting his chances away and can easily continue his hot streak against the Hammers.

We have also added Emerson to commit at least one foul with the attack-minded left back coming up against March on Brighton’s right.

Of the players on both sides, only Lucas Paqueta (five) has committed more fouls than Emerson (four).

The final selection is over 4.5 cards in the game, with the revised interpretation of the laws of the game leading to more bookings already this season.

Only Newcastle (nine) have been shown more yellows than Brighton (eight) this season while West Ham rank joint fourth with six in their opening two games.

Anthony Taylor, the referee for this one, has already shown 13 yellow cards this season – only Andy Madley (17) has shown more.
