Bulls vs. Raptors odds for NBA play-in game: Toronto favoured against Chicago

The Toronto Raptors host the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the NBA play-in tournament.

The latest: Toronto and Chicago meet in a do-or-die contest with the winner advancing to the second — and final — stage of the play-in tournament. The loser will have its season come to an end. This is the first time either of these squads has qualified for the tournament.

NBA odds as of 2:03 p.m. on 04/09/2023.

Moneyline odds

Toronto (-215) is a sizeable moneyline favourite against Chicago (+175) considering how close the two finished in the standings.

The reason for that stems from the Raptors’ success at home this season. They own a 27-14 record at Scotiabank Arena, one of the better marks of any team across the league.

The Raps closed the year out by winning 10 of their last 11 home games.

The Bulls weren’t a horrible road squad, sporting an 18-23 record, and have actually had some encouraging results away from United Center down the stretch. They won eight of their last 10 road contests, including victories over the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers.

Toronto won two of the three meetings between these teams while the home team won each matchup.

: The spread

Toronto is a five-point favourite over Chicago in the play-in game.

The Raptors were a middling ATS team (41-39-2) this season but did find more success against the number at home. They went 24-15-1 versus the spread at home and won 10 of their last 11 home games by five points or more.

The Bulls were also a very average team against the spread (39-39-3) and finished with a losing ATS record on the road (18-20-2).

They did, however, manage to cover this number in eight of their last 10 away games.

Toronto covered this spread in both of its home wins over Chicago this season, including a 104-98 win on Feb. 28.

Total odds

The total for this game is 217 points, which makes sense considering both teams were fairly successful at cashing bets at opposite ends of this market.

Toronto, despite being a low-scoring bunch, was actually one of the better over teams in the NBA. The Raps hit the over in 55.6% of their outings this season.

Chicago was much one of the league’s better under squads. The Bulls came through on the under in 54.3% of their games, the third most in the NBA.

The under on 217 cashed in each of the final two meetings between these sides while pushing in their only other clash this season.
