Calgary Flames vs. Dallas Stars Prediction, Preview, and Odds The Calgary Flames have dropped four of their last seven games overall. They’ve earned three points over the last three contests, sandwiching a 4-3 overtime win against the Seattle Kraken with a 5-4 shootout loss to the New York Islanders and a 4-2 defeat at the Nashville Predators.

Last Wednesday, the Flames were outshot by the Predators 45-26. Despite being listed as -115 road favorites, the Flames didn’t stand a chance against the Preds, who went 1-for-5 with the man advantage. Calgary failed to score on four power-play opportunities and committed a whopping 18 giveaways.

The Flames score just 2.84 goals per game (tied-26th in the NHL) and surrender 3.37 goals in return (22nd). Jacob Markstrom has guarded the cage in four of Calgary’s last five contests, and the 33-year-old goalie should get another starting call Friday in Dallas. Markstrom is 4-7-2 with a 2.85 GAA and a .904 save percentage this season.

The Stars battled bravely against the reigning Stanley Cup champions and outshot them 32-26 on the night. Roope Hintz scored his eighth goal of the season to tie the game late in the second period, but Dallas couldn’t score once more against Adin Hill.

If Jake Oettinger puts on a strong performance, the Flames will be in trouble. Calgary has struggled to score thus far, and the Flames will need a top-notch display from Jacob Markstrom if they want to upset the Stars.

Neither side prefers to play fast, so I lean toward the under. But the line is a tricky one at exactly six goals, and the over has hit in each of the previous four encounters between Calgary and Dallas. I’m taking Dallas to win by two or more goals on the back of its star goaltender. Should Oettinger get the job done, this game would go under.

Prediction: Go under 6.0 goals (-108)
