In the previous NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway, a wild finish saw Cole Custer claim the series championship last November. What is in store for the first stop there this season? Read on for our Call811.com Every Dig. Every Time. 200 predictions and picks.

NASCAR Xfinity Series Call811.com Every Dig. Every Time. 200 Race Information

  • Event: Call811.com Every Dig. Every Time. 200 (Race 4 of 33 of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season)
  • Date: Saturday, March 9, 2024
  • Time: 4:30 pm ET (2:30 pm local time)
  • Broadcast: FS1

Last week, Austin Hill’s attempt to go 33 for 33 this season came to an end as John Hunter Nemechek took the win at The LiUNA! at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Hill, who was looking to win the race for the second straight year, finished fourth behind Nemechek, Custer, and Chandler Smith. So, it wasn’t a bad weekend at all for Hill, who remains atop the series standings entering this weekend’s festivities.

Last year’s Xfinity Series regular season champion may be in much better spirits than he was in November, when he could only watch Custer, Nemechek, Justin Allgaier, and Sam Mayer battle it out for the title after a last-lap incident involving him and now-former teammate Sheldon Creed.

Allgaier, Custer, and Nemechek are all among the Call811.com Every Dig. Every Time. 200 favorites, as expected. But the leading favorite is 2017 Xfinity Series champion William Byron, who is making just his fifth Xfinity Series start since that title-winning campaign.

Call811.com Every Dig. Every Time. 200 Betting Analysis and Prediction

While Byron is the favorite for today’s race, is he the man to beat?

Nemechek, who returned to a full-time Cup Series ride this season after leading the Xfinity Series in wins last season, took the checkered flag last week. However, it is not the norm for Cup Series regulars to win Xfinity Series races, and it’s a lot to ask of Byron to do so when he races on this level far more infrequently than other Cup Series regulars do.

That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t bet on Byron to win if you are so inclined, but for me, he isn’t my first choice (as for tomorrow’s Cup Series race, well, stay tuned).

In last year’s edition of this event, the United Rentals 200, Sammy Smith claimed his first Xfinity Series win. Rounding out the top five were Ryan Truex, Sheldon Creed, Riley Herbst, and Chandler Smith.

With his third-place finish at LVMS, Chandler Smith continues to keep pace with Hill as the only drivers to finish in the top five in every race thus far this season.

Smith won the first two stages of The LiUNA! but wasn’t able to convert that success into his second career Xfinity Series win.

However, with the way things are going for him thus far this season, it is only a matter of time before he ends up in Victory Lane.

Chandler Smith to win the race (+700), win Group B (+250), and finish in the top five (+120)

No team has won this race more than Joe Gibbs Racing. Last year’s win by Sammy Smith was JGR’s ninth in this race, joining wins in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2020.

The first seven of those wins were all by Kyle Busch, while Brandon Jones won the 2020 race.

With the results that Chandler Smith has produced in his first few races in a JGR car, it will be a big surprise if he is not at or near the front at the end.

Austin Hill to finish in the top five (+220)

Hill’s best Xfinity Series at Phoenix is seventh, his result in both races last season. But with how he has started this season, these odds are way too good to pass up.
