Can Lewis Hamilton win an eighth F1 World Championship?

Lewis Hamilton is one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time. He has won seven World Championships and a whole host of accolades during his 16-year F1 career. He may be approaching 40, but has Hamilton got another title in him?

The British star, who was knighted in 2021, has had to sit back and watch Max Verstappen dominate the sport for the last couple of years. The Red Bull ace has been a revelation, and Verstappen could be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

However, Mercedes is looking to improve next year, and Hamilton is seeking a record-breaking eighth World Championship title in the 2024 season.

Right now, the No. 44 is priced at around 14/1 to lift the trophy in 2024. Formula One betting is becoming increasingly popular, and there are hundreds of sportsbooks for bettors to choose from.

With this in mind, companies like Sportingtech allow owners to tailor their sites to meet the needs of punters. This allows them to provide the most up-to-date data and intuitive systems when you place a bet, whether that’s on Hamilton or another driver.

Looking Back on Hamilton’s Stunning Career

When Hamilton started out in Formula One in 2007, not many could foresee the impact he would make on the sport. He took to the fast-paced, no-nonsense action right away, picking up his first world title in 2008.

Hamilton had to wait six years for his next trophy, though. The British ace finished at the top of the pile in 2014, beating teammate Nico Rosberg to the crown. The Stevenage-born star retained his title and picked up his fourth World Championship in 2017.

The 2017 title was the start of four years of utter dominance for the Mercedes man. Hamilton won four consecutive championships during this time, following up the 2017 triumph with world titles in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

However, a new title rival emerged in the shape of Verstappen. The Belgian-Dutch starlet pipped Hamilton to the post in one of the most dramatic title battles of all time in 2021. He then dominated the next two years to secure a hat-trick of championships.

Hamilton has not won a Formula One Grand Prix since the 2021 race in Saudi Arabia. Victory in Jeddah was the 103rd Grand Prix race win of his sensational career. The Brit is miles ahead at the top of the standings when it comes to Grand Prix victories, with the great Michael Schumacher second on the list with 91.

Will 2024 be a Better Year for the Brit?

Hamilton: Disqualification doesn't take away from progress made

Preparations are already in place for the 2024 season. In August, Hamilton signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Mercedes until 2025.

After a couple of years of lagging behind Red Bull, Mercedes is hoping to compete in 2024. Hamilton may be edging closer to 40, but age is just a number in Formula One. He still has the same fighting spirit, and his driving abilities are second to none.

Hamilton is currently level on seven World Championship titles with Schumacher, and one more championship will see the British superstar become the outright record winner. Can Hamilton win that elusive eighth crown in 2024?
