16-year-old jockey, Jack Doughty is currently relishing his phenomenal career win, which marks his first major conquest in horse riding. Taking over the racing odds, Doughty reveals the major factors that helped him secure his win, in an exclusive interview post the racing spectacle.

Horse racing prodigy Jack Doughty secures his maiden victory

The official Twitter handle of At The Races posted an interview clip with Jack Doughty as he garnered his first win. The caption reads, “The best early Christmas present ever!” A moment 16-year-old Jack Doughty will always remember as he gets a first professional winner at @Southwell_Races for @AWCarrollracing…”

Doughty ascribed his success to his father and feels elated to make him proud of his recent success. He added, “He [Doughty’s dad] spends a lot of time helping me to get where I am and I can’t thank him enough.” The support from his father has remained elemental in helping him achieve success.

As the match unfolded in Southwell Racecourse on Friday, the rising star Jack Doughty crossed the victory line on his horse, Fieldsman.

Fieldsman is an 11-year-old Bay Gelding horse, owned by Sf Racing Club. Doughty acknowledged the excellent performance of the equine, during the match. He remarked, “Yeah, he’s an old horse and Sarah rides him at home every day and she’s done a really good job with him.”

Doughty celebrates pioneering victory as best Christmas gift

Talking about the event, Doughty added, “I think it’s the best earliest Christmas present ever.” Jack Doughty scored for his trainer Tony Carroll. Talking about his trainer, he added, “I’m about half an hour away from Tony, but I’ll be currently living with him soon, so yeah it’s ideal.” He talked about the pivotal role of his trainer, detailing how he intends to live closer to him to immerse himself in the equestrian sport.

Showcasing his seasonal expertise given his involvement in horse racing since young age, Doughty talked about his experience in the pony field. He added, “I own a pony called Madame Meeming, and yeah the pony racing helped me a lot.” Doughty had five winners previously in pony racing which has helped him establish a strong foundation for his current victory.

Doughty’s first winner at the age of 16 is indeed a spectacle, marking the initiation of his spectacular career ahead.
